Dreams from the last two nights:

Night before last, I stood in a gallery with artwork on the walls and on tables. It was all done by people who hung around with The Mothers and Frank Zappa during somewhat early days of the band. Maybe not the Garrick Theater days, but soon after that. I particularly liked a colorful nearly-abstract piece that was quite large and a little bit like some of the Facebook backgrounds one can get. And there were video screens with scenes of Zappa and the band that were quite similar to concert/rarity-album dreams of him that I've had.

Last night, I dreamed I was watching Kevin Smith's "Chasing Amy" again, but this time I kept watching until the actual end of the credits, which, now that I was watching it, never seemed to come. There were, instead, many additional scenes such as filmmakers like those in the MCU put after a lot of credits have rolled by. These were revealing interesting twists that let me know that the kind of "guy loses girl" ending of the film may not have been the last word. The girl in my dream-version of the movie was still Alyssa, most of the time anyway, but the guy didn't seem to be exactly Holden McNeil or his actor Ben Affleck. And the actor playing a character that took the place of Banky Edwards was more like Jeff Conaway during Taxi days than Jason Lee. As the credits went on further, a curious phenomenon occurred, which I took in the kind of stride that I do in a dream: I somehow became the main character, and there seemed to be an entry point, there in those little additional scenes, whereby I could go into the movie and change the story so that I (taking the place of Holden McNeil) would not lose Alyssa at the end. The rest of the dream consisted of a rather slow, deliberate account of my attempts to do just that. At one point where Alyssa is less like Alyssa or Joey Lauren Adams who played her, we meet and we do kiss. Then, the thing that I have to do to set things right is to take her with me into a movie theater in a three-story dark building near where I entered the scene, at which point we would buy tickets and go watch THE END CREDITS OF CHASING AMY, all the way through to the point where I entered, and that would give us the opportunity to change the film. Weirdly recursive now, my brain did not take the story much further than that.
